Role Purpose
Lead the strategy, portfolio, and P&L of sustainability and climate assurance offerings; set multi year roadmap, GTM, partnerships and investment cases; ensure conformance with reporting/assurance frameworks in close duo leadership with Technical Coordinator(s) who own methods, competence, and technical governance.
Programs in Scope (overview)
• ISO 14064 1:2018 – organizational GHG inventories; ISO 14067:2018 – product carbon footprint.
• ISO 14065:2020 & ISO/IEC 17029:2019 – accreditation framework for environmental information validation/verification bodies.
• ISO 14068 1:2023 – carbon neutrality requirements & guidance (hierarchy: reduce/remove before offsetting; applicable to organizations and products)
• CSRD 2022/2464 & ESRS (2023/2772) – mandatory sustainability reporting standards and assurance context.
• CBAM – definitive regime from Jan 1, 2026 (authorized declarants, verified embedded emissions, certificates).
Qualification Requirements
• Education & Experience: University degree in environmental engineering/science/economics or equivalent; ≥4 years in product/portfolio leadership for GHG/ESG/LCA/assurance services.
• Competence: Strong knowledge of GHG accounting (14064 1/14067), V/V accreditation (14065/17029), and EU regulatory drivers (CSRD/ESRS, CBAM); track record in GTM, partnerships and scalable delivery; financial acumen (P&L).
• Languages: Fluent English.
Responsibilities (Strategy & Management)
A. Portfolio Strategy & Roadmap
• Define 3 year portfolio vision for GHG, CFP, V/V, CSRD/ESRS readiness, CBAM readiness; prioritize offerings
B. P&L Ownership & Business Planning
• Own revenue, margin, pricing; build investment cases, capacity plans, utilization and scalability across regions/sectors.
C. Operating Model with Technical Coordinators (TCs)
• RACI: PM owns what & why (market need, offer design, GTM, commercials); TC owns how (V/V methodologies, sampling, competence models, report quality). Jointly approve program procedures, competence matrices, and impartiality safeguards.
D. Go to Market & Ecosystems
• Develop partnerships (data platforms, LCA tool vendors, law/accounting alliances for CSRD), marketing playbooks, and sales enablement; acquire lighthouse clients and references.
E. Accreditation & Risk Strategy
• Shape accreditation scope (14065/17029), assurance boundaries, and independence model; plan for ESRS assurance evolution and CBAM verification expectations.
F. Data, Quality & Tooling
• Define KPIs, dashboards and tool stack (e.g., EF/LCA datasets, evidence registers, CBAM data models); drive report cycle time and rework reduction.
G. People & Capability
• Build and maintain a bench of verifiers/experts with TCs (recruitment, CPD, witnessing plan) mapped to sectors at highest demand (steel, cement, chemicals, FMCG, automotive).
