Junior Accountant (m/f/d)

At DEKRA, we continue to grow and are looking for a Junior Accountant (m/f/d) to join our General Accounting team based in Barcelona.

You will become part of our European Finance team, working alongside colleagues from different countries and supporting the accounting activities of multiple legal entities. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your accounting career within a dynamic international environment while gaining exposure to financial reporting, month-end closing activities and international accounting practices.

What will you do?

As a Junior Accountant (m/f/d), you will be responsible for:

• Managing day-to-day accounting activities for your assigned entities, initially Spain.
• Preparing and posting journal entries, accruals and prepayments.
• Performing balance sheet and intercompany reconciliations.
• Supporting month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Assisting in the preparation of financial reports and statutory requirements.
• Collaborating with international finance teams across different business functions.
• Identifying accounting discrepancies and supporting their resolution.
• Maintaining accurate accounting records in line with internal controls and company procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting Operations

• Prepare and post accounting entries accurately and on time.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations.
• Support intercompany accounting processes.
• Contribute to monthly and annual closing activities.

Collaboration

• Work closely with Controlling, Group Finance and other Finance teams.
• Support financial reporting processes.
• Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders across Europe.

Continuous Improvement

• Ensure compliance with accounting policies and internal controls.
• Develop knowledge of local accounting regulations and international standards.
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the Finance department.

What are we looking for?

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
• Knowledge of IFRS is considered an advantage.

Experience

• 0–2 years of accounting experience, including internships.
• Previous experience in Finance or Accounting departments is desirable.
• Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP or Exact would be an asset.

Technical Knowledge

• Good understanding of accounting principles.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, etc.).
• Familiarity with ERP systems is desirable.
• Ability to work accurately with financial information.
