Senior Process Safety Consultant (m/f/d)

What are we looking for?

We are seeking a Senior Process Safety Consultant with solid and proven experience (more than 10 years) in a similar role. The selected candidate will ensure that industrial systems and processes operate safely and efficiently, minimizing risks related to human safety, the environment, and company assets. You will be involved in evaluating and improving process safety across our business and must demonstrate experience in hazard identification, risk assessment, functional safety (SIL), major accident prevention, and ATEX compliance.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Academic background: Degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent.
• Additional training: Master’s degree in Occupational Risk Prevention.
• Professional experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in process safety, either in a plant environment or as a consultant.
• Soft skills: Strong communication skills. Previous experience as a trainer will be valued.
• Languages: High level of English (spoken and written) – minimum C1.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Process Safety Consultant, your main responsibilities will include:

• Performing Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) studies: HAZID, HAZOP, What-if, LOPA.
• Functional Safety studies: Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS).
• Quantitative risk analysis and consequence modeling.
• ATEX studies (zoning classification, risk evaluation, Explosion Protection Document - DPCE).
• Safety Management Systems (PSM).
• Sector focus: Oil & Gas and other process industries.

The role involves organizing and attending meetings, as well as traveling to DEKRA and client locations, both within Spain and internationally.

Main Areas of Expertise:

• Process Hazard Analysis (PHA): HAZOP, What-if, FMEA...
• Functional safety: SIL allocation and verification.
• Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA).
• Risk identification and assessment in chemical processes.
• Emergency relief system calculations.
• Electrostatics.
• Accident investigations.
• Laboratory testing of physico-chemical properties (gases and dust).
• Bench-scale testing of chemical reactions.
• ATEX: Explosion Protection Document, equipment certification, zone classification, site inspections.
